The negotiations during 2011

  



In July of 2011 in Kazan, in the next trilateral talks between the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, arranged on the initiative of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, there was a chance for agreeing the renewed version of Madrid principles. However, as Armenia insisted on mechanism to determine first the final legal status of Nagorno-Karabakh beforehand, as well as refusal to vacate occupied Lachin and Kelbajar, led to failure of negotiations, and no agreement has been reached.
