The negotiations during 2000 
On 19th of August 2000, after a long break the process of negotiations was revived again. At the informal summit of the CIS Heads of State in Yalta (Ukraine), the next negotiations took place between President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and Armenian President Robert Kocharian on the Karabakh settlement. French President Jacques Chirac has begun the mediation initiative after the failure of these negotiations.
