The negotiations during 1996

  



After the achievement of cease-fire negotiations were carried out in accordance with the format of the Minsk Group. Co-Chairs of the Minsk Group from the European countries have replaced each other, and Russia remained to be co-chairman in this format. The negotiation process mainly consisted of visits of the co-chairs to the region of conflict, separate meetings with sides and the consultations carried out within the framework of the Minsk Group. The mediators had tried to prepare a draft agreement on the settlement of the conflict that can be signed by them. This situation in the format of mediation in the Nagorno-Karabakh has continued by the end of 1996 (December 2-3, 1996, the OSCE Lisbon summit).
